T&M 012	KAPPES, HILDE	LANDSCAPES OF A VOICE	14.09.98	Born in 1964 on the Moselle River, sang as a child in the church choir and started playing the piano, later studied music-education in Vienna, performed lieder evenings and sang in various jazz and improvisational groups. Her first success was in Berlin in the 90Сs with a solo program which could not be forced into any existing category. On "Landscapes of a Voice" she takes the time to create moods and explore them Ч painting delicate, undramatic landscapes with rolling hills, gently waving grass Ч an expansive world full of flowing contrasts
T&M 110	KELLY, JO ANN	WOMEN IN (E)MOTION	02.12.95	The legendary blues singer's spirt also filled the hall during her performance at the women in (e)motion festival, 1988, in a double concert with Rory Block. Only a few weeks after the concert she suddenly began to suffer the symptoms of a serious illness, a brain tumor which was then surgically removed. At first she seemed to be cured. She gave the type of first-class concerts she was known for. Her last performance in early September 1990 came at the end of a long tour with her brother Dave. A joint album was also in the planning. Jo Ann Kelly's premature and unexpected death was an immense loss for the blues world. This live recording should, above all, serve to keep alive the memory of this wonderful personality who embodied the blues with so much ability, respect, and humanity

T&M 112	MCILWAINE, ELLEN	WOMEN IN (E)MOTION	08.06.98	The young guitar player and singer made initial contact with the rock scene in the mid-1960s. Ellen McIlwaine, the adopted daughter of American missionaries, grew up in Japan. There she first learned piano like a good girl but was soon susceptible to the rolling groove of Fats Domino and the sheer energy of Ray Charles. With the move back to the US South, to Atlanta, Georgia, and a guitar bought cheap she dove into the world of blues, soul, funk and R&B that surrounded her there . The foundation for a big start in rock had been laid. 1966 found the furious slide guitar player, who considers Johnny Winter a trail-blazing influence, drawn to Now York. She performed in clubs with big names like Muddy Waters and played several times with Jimi Hendrix, who took her under his wing. But the path through the labyrinth of the booming rock business turned out to be rocky, especially for a woman. The concert at the Bremen "Women in (e)motion festival" was such an evening
